Responsibility

How can we, at such a young age, show responsibility?

1. Being to school on time and ready to learn.
2. Handing in homework on time, no late assignments.
(There really should be no late assignments unless they are absent. All assignments are written down on their homework chart and is signed each and every night by their parent. That signature tells the teacher that homework assignments are done and looked over to make sure they were done correctly. If assignments are not highlighted off, that means it is homework for the night. The students are only highlighting items off in class if the teacher has gone over the assignment and has approved it.)
3. Keeping homework folder neat and organized to help lessen the chance of forgetting or loosing assignments.
4. Practicing for tests. Students are reminded many times when there will be a test on certain subjects.

Responsibility is a major character trait that we build year to year. Please help your child's character shine this year.

New Year

Here we are again!! A new year!!!
I have already broken my one rule of teaching this year....I had always said I wouldn't teach anyone taller than me....well that went out the window when I met three of my students this year :)

I wanted to give an overview of my homework chart because I do have some parents and students not quite understanding. Each week your child will get a new homework chart, they fill it out at the beginning of the day each day, and as they get done with an assignment, as I have overlooked, they can highlight them off.

Parents need to initial each day when they have checked their students homework is done and completed correctly. Also parents need to sign off on a reading log letting me know that each student is reading at least 20 minutes every night.

As of right now we have not got the students into the computer lab to get their AR ranges. As soon as we do that each student needs to take at least two test a week.

Since we do not have free dress Fridays anymore, it is Tiger Time that the students will miss out on if they do not get their homework done or homework chart and reading log signed or AR tests done.

Please keep your child up on their homework so they don't fall farther and farther behind. On a side note if an assignment is turned in late it is 10% off for each day it's late.

If your child needs extra attention or help on their homework we do have an After School Tutoring and Enrichment Program available. For those that are interested please contact the front office at 855-8661.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email me.

I'm looking forward to an amazing school year.
